Forward Planning for my 240K Service

Hi,

Doing it a bit of forward planning...

My 240K mile service is due for the car. At the same time it will be due the belt change for the replacement engine put in 100K miles or so ago.

Car runs like a dream and 13 years (11 of those mine) it is hardly distinguishable from the day I bought it.

What other jobs would you recommend doing at this service, bearing in mind I intend to keep it long term (unless the new Defender of Project Grenadier give me something more interesting).

Thank you,

John

I would, but others would disagree.

I changed the oil pump even though It already had the new style on. Would rather have good oil pressure.
Change the water pump can be done at any time as it’s not reliant on the timing belt cover coming off. but again, changed mine at the same time. Thumbs Up

I had everything replaced what runs with the belt at 290.000km's ; 7 years after the first
100k-miles service.

Also the oilpump although mechanic thought it would be a wast ; never seen a failed oilpump.
But with the crank failures in the back of my mind [low oil pressure?], I had ti replaced as well..

Mine runs like new too.. .. can not be bothered to by something else... Whistle

Really helpful - thank you. Is it still body-off these days? Thinking about brake lines...

The mechanic who works on my car [ actually an English man !] knows how to replace the rear brakelines without removing the body.
I am sorry not to know the details as I never work on the car myself.
