Day 2 pcr test

I can't help with any advice on getting to France, but I would avoid using Randox for the day 2 PCR test you need on your return. I still haven't received my kit, despite returning more than a week ago and emailing them three times, with no reply.

Amazon now do the day 2 PCR test for £34.99. It arrived 20 hours after I ordered it and was processed within two days. Great service, in my view.

I saw the Amazon kits. Not sure if they would have been good for outbound though.

Anyone know what the beep is going on with the French, Swiss and Austrian vaccination proof apps? If I load up my certificates they seem to only keep valid for a few days. The Italian app doesn’t do it, that works fine. Hmmmmm. Confused

PS My certs now expire overnight. Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

Still having my certs being declared invalid after a few days. Bit of googling didn’t find anything apart from the standard line that they last 30 days. Confused Confused

However, found this re 72 hours:

I was scanning from screen prints from the NHS Scotland app after refreshing, not a freshly generated pdf form from the website. Needless to say there is no option to confirm my phone number, at least not that I have found. Now put the certs in the French, Austrian and Swiss apps, but from the new pdf doc, to see if that makes a difference. Thumbs Up

Not that this is much good to most peeps that were hoping to use them to go sliding downhill on skinny planks. Whistle

URGENT UPDATE FOR BRITISH RESIDENTS IN EU
Following a French Government decision, on 28/12/2021, unless they hold French residency, British citizens are now considered 3rd country citizens and can no longer transit France by road to reach their country of residence in the EU.

You can travel if a. You hold two dual passports (so the other passport is from an EU country), b. You’re resident ( = your home is) in France

FWIW, Some Finns were turned back in Stockholm, Sweden, on their way (transiting) to Denmark, because their PCR tests were slightly older than 48 hours. They had to return Aland islands, get a new rapid PCR and try again. No discussion about nationalism here or in Sweden. Thumbs Up

FWIW2, had the same Finns taken Silja (Tallink) instead, they could have been able to do a rapid PCR on arrival and continue onward if found negative. Viking did not have this service in the other harbor. Rolling Eyes

Yup. It's been an absolute gift to Macron. Between him and Johnson and their continuing animosity and self interest....

I’m still up in the air as to whether to re book my skiing holiday for the February half term ( our only real next opportunity prior to next Xmas) as I am really not convinced we will be any different then to the situation we have now..??

According to that bastion of (ahem) journalistic integrity, the DM quotes the French Interior Ministry as saying the Eurotunnel tweet is wrong: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1...itons.html

So, clear as mud then. Thumbs Up

I’m wondering whether we’ll be able to go to, or just through, France by the end of April. Got 2 trip option planned, one by car and preferred one by Interrail, not feeling confident.

Anyone know if the ramped up French entry rules (early Dec and these newer ones) mean we can’t get a Eurostar to Amsterdam or Brussels? ISTR from the only time I’ve used Eurostar you entrée France in St Pancras. Confused Confused

Looking at the news… seems the expectation is that business trips will be allowed this week and then tourism the following week.

I am still (maybe stupidly) hoping for Feb Skiing Confused Smile
