French Speeding Fine

Would there be anyone on here knows the rules on receiving a notice of speeding in France.
Have had a fixed penalty notice drop through the door today telling me I was flashed by a camera on the A16 in France doing 106kmh in a 90kmh limited area. Thing is they say it happened 15/09/2018. I realise they obviously have to get info from our DVLA but 6 months seems a bit of a delay to send it. Now I am not condoning speeding but the time in question I remember there was not a thing on the road, it was perfect weather and it’s not a great deal over. I know there is a time limit here so was wondering if it’s the same there as if I can get away giving anything tho the France I would like too.

Cheers

Thanks for that.
Annoying that especially when you see how many of their lot get fines, ignore Dartford crossing charge and everything else and get away with it.
It it wasn’t for the fact it’s the easiest way for us to get to my in-laws in Bruge I would stay Well away from their roads.

Cheers

Least its only a fine

Their speed margins are not as generous as current UK allowances

Yes I did see that when trying to look in to the fine. Oh well €45 in to the French pot.

Cheers

As I understand it, while they can send you the fine, they cannot do anything about it if you don't pay.

An issue arises if you go back and get pulled over again, for whatever reason, and they run your details through the laptop. Could be in quite a pickle then. But even that depends if you are in the same car etc.

I always pay mine, as I go back all the time.

Yep will have to pay as over drive that road at least once a month and I also know they definitely have ANPR cameras at their side of tunnel

Before you pay it make sure it is from the French Police and not some 3rd party collection agency. I had one from a 3rd party company from Belgium - the buy the outstanding tickets from the authorities and then pay a percentage of what they collect. In reality the authorities have already written off the fine by thr time the 3rd part gets the details so they aren't expecting any money. If its a 3rd party I just ignore them and after one letter they don't bother sending another. I have had no issues driving in Belgium since then either.

If you speed you pay.

At least it is only a fine, three times in the UK and you loose your license .

Watch out for the 80kph limit now. Thumbs Up

Actually equivalent to doing just over 70mph in 60mph, so enough over to get you a ticket here as well.

Cheers. Wasn’t disputing I was speeding or the fact I have been fined and as I said I do not condone speeding and in nearly 40 years of driving I have never had a single point. I say it’s not a lot over because of the road conditions and in my opinion far better roads than ours. I was only asking for info because if I didn’t have to pay it then I would not as I am sure many would not either.

Thanks

Wasn't being critical, just pointing it it was no different to getting done over here, as you said it wasn't much over and someone said the margins are tighter in France.

Problem with speeding is, enforcement with cameras is very b&w, all about speeding rather than inappropriate speed.

Totally agree all black and white. I think the main reason I was trying for a way out is because of who the fine is going to. Still at least it’s €45 and not more and apologies if I worded my reply like I had taken offence

Cheers

Why? it is going to the country you was speeding in. What is wrong with that?
