That's about par it seems. Around £600 it appears is the general sort of price.

I just had my front bottom arms changed. Cost was £668 for genuine parts fitted by an indi. Parts were around 220 for one side and 246 for the other. He could have got none genuine parts and they would have been £90 cheaper overall but I didnt want to chance it as its a big job to do again if they are not ok. Key point was that the arms came off without any trouble, no seized bolts.
4 wheel tracking was another £100 on top of this so I would say your price is a good one.
I went down the route of changing the antiroll bar bushes first, it reduced the clunk for a little while then it just came back worse.
I noticed that at the point of the 'clunk' there was a little almost imperceptible kick in the steering wheel.
When I showed this to my indi I demonstrated the problem by slowly driving up to a curb and just rocking the car up against it. He could see the left wheel moving back a bit but not the right. After he changed the arms he confirmed that the left bush was shot and the right one was ok (just) Discovery 4 3.0 HSE 2010 year. I like it a lot. Now with winch 😂

OK, so happened to need a tyre change, so got garage to lift car up and have a look at the various bushes. Everything seemed tight (to my eyes), with no play in the control arms or the anti roll bar. They played with both wheels and nothing seemed to be loose....so not sure what to do next, apart from take it to another garage and see what they say....

Start with the ARB bushings and go from there.
They're less than 20 quid and take about 30 mins to fit.
It's not hard to see how a garage would miss play in the suspension or ARB - don't put stock in what they said. Change the ARB bushes and report back.
First rule of fixing cars: start with the cheapest, easiest options and work up until sorted.
(Or just blow loads of money on control arms and ignore this advice ) PAGODA

For info I have a very good indi, before the mot I had the knock, he had the car on the lift and really give the suspension a check over, had some really big pry bars moving the suspension. It had little movement and passed the mot.
So it is not easy to see in the static that there is any problem. I drove it for 18 months before it really started to show. From first mot when I got it,through second mot that I had, the knock was always there.
My advice, drive it as it is until you can not stand the klunk anymore. By then the problem will stand out a mile and you will be sure what your fixing Discovery 4 3.0 HSE 2010 year. I like it a lot. Now with winch 😂

Ok, so have come back to this thread after some time - and strangely not too much driving...
I changed the front stabiliser links as suggested
LR014145 53-160600008/HD MEYLE HEAVY DUTY FRONT STABILISER LINK
https://bit.ly/2ZH70bL
but sadly this didn't resolve the issue.
Next question is which of the lower arm kits do I need to go for? There seem to be two for air suspension (I have an HSE 13 reg)
https://bit.ly/2TBcbWP
and this cheaper one
https://bit.ly/3c3OVa4
or have I got that completely wrong?
Also, whilst I change these, is there anything else I should be changing at the same time?
thanks again for any help!
