It sounds like the rack has died,
Ive just done about 4000km of rough dirt roads and
the front is making a serious noise
Ill be in Cairns on Monday or Tuesday and
ill get the dealer to have a look Pete

They just replaced the lower control arm bushes and Ball joints on mine. Stopped the noises and vague steering.
Techo said it is cheaper to buy the whole contol arm than just the bushes.

Yep, I checked my front end before the flinders trip and had some inner rod end movement. At the 72K service dealer has ordered new rode ends and rack for me under warranty, There is another thread about talking about rack issues for a period of time in the UK, I think it was late 05 builds, Mine was Nov 05. checked my bushings and they are still ok but wil have a good look at everything before warranty end, I think I'll get an end of warranty expert to inspect it all. Overall I'mm pretty happy with the vehicles performance for work it's done and the enjoyment. TDV6
