Front numbeplate fixing?? Can we use stickies??
The rear number plate on Disco will be perfectly secure with stickies.. as that’s onto metal / paintwork.
But can a front plate also be fitted with sticky strips, given it’s onto the black bumper material..?
Anyone had any experience? I ask because the way the dealer has fitted my front plate, with two screws; is disgraceful, there’s about ten different holes back there and the two screw holes in use aren’t even in line, it looks ridiculous. So I’m after just getting a new plate stuck on instead.

The plate on my last D4 was stuck on because i also hate having holes drilled . My plates were shorter and therefore lighter but never fell off Previous Discos

I just put my new plates on this week, tape front and back. The plates I got are aluminium, so I curved the front one slightly to follow the shape of the bumper. 3 rows of tape, no problem!

Anyone that screws plates onto modern vehicles needs shot. That’s my take on it, big ignorant self tappers rammed through expensive bumpers

Stuck on wife's Polo plastic bumper for 2.5 years - no hassles and a lot easier

I used stickers but it came off after a few deep muddy holes on play days and lanes trips so screwed it on in the end. Cant remember the tape I used, the first time it was cheap stuff, the second was good stuff that I saw mentioned on this forum or another.
I should also add that my bumper has a shed load of scratches and teh odd scrap from off road excursions so im really not precious about a few holes.
I can always stick a new plate over the holes and nobody will ever know it had screws 1995 Discovery 1 300TDI

I'm with you on the neatest way to affix plates. My front plate was previously screwed (as it were), but I've replaced it with a stuck-on one. Even on the slightly textured plastic plinth it's perfectly secure.
I bought a roll of double-sided numberplate tape from Halfords, and there's been enough to attach plates for the last few plate-swaps.Gordon

My 15my was deliverd new with stick on front plate, after about 9 months it started to lift very slghtly on near side causing the near side in-board parking sensor to randomly flag an obstruction, plate reattached with screws and no repeat of the random triggering of the sensor.

Plastic plates on curved bumpers held on woth tape will start to come off soooner or later, the suggestion mentioned above with curving alloy style plates is a good one.
I'd go with tape … sadly I couldn't on current car due to the a previous owner had achieved in fixing the plates.

Partly relevant. Drove down the A1(M) once and the FL2 in front shed its rear plate. At around 70mph. Quite impressive but as I was leaving on the slip road at the time could not let him know.2014 MY Discovery XS Indus Silver. Sadly gone. Second last LR of forty eight years continuous ownership.

I prefer small (correctly placed) capped number plate screws at the front and tape at the rear. The plastic compound on front plate holder does not take the curved number plate tape long term.
