So chaps what's the current front brake pad of choice
I guess I will need sensors as the check pads warning has come on the dash

Delphi, Borg & Beck, TRW. Not sure about the Textar pads, but I'm sure I've read about people on the forum using them.Richard

No body mentioned Mintex? They were the performance brake of choice when I was young.Discovery 4 3.0 HSE 2010 year. I like it a lot. Now with winch 😂

How do you all rate the 'performance' pads such as Green Stuff?

Some people like them, some do not.. similarly some people swear by K&N air filters that can be reoiled. I stay away from both.
If you want to increase real braking performance a. change the calipers to Brembo ones from a RRS, b. do the V8 brake upgrade on your TDV6.

Just done my front pads. Went for Brembo, early indications are braking is fine and so far less brake dust than the ones that were fitted at the factory.Discovery 4 HSE

I’ve got somewhere between 10-15k km left on my pads, disks probably closer to 20k km. I’ll change the disks at the same time as the pads. I, too, was planning on using Brembo to replace. Kit list below is for V8.
1x A 00 267, Brembo sensor cable, front
1x A 00 265, Brembo sensor cable, rear
1x P 44 013, Brembo pads, rear
1x P 44 014, Brembo pads, front
2x 09.8875.31, Brembo disks, front
2x 09.8876.31, Brembo disks, rear
2x PFK737, TRW clips, rear
2x PFK658, TRW clips, front
Budgeted, planned for sometime late winter.

Hi
A very interesting thread as I wish to do mine next year
Been looking at the Delphi kits, to replace all the discs and pads, have 17 inch wheels so can’t to the V8 mod, but in fairness am ok with how it currently stops
Also see they recommend using CeraTec and not to use coppaslip, I normally use ceramic brake grease on the back of the pads , don’t know if that’s the same as CeraTec
Wonder if using coppaslip could interfere with the brake pad sensors ?????

Thanks, good reading there gstuart.
Now I have to clean up some lubricant that I applied a while back and invest in some CeraTec type product.LeighW
The old girl is on her third engine...
* first ran a bearing (design failure in original engine)
* second had a failure of the water outlet on top of the engine (pls check yours)

Hi Leigh
Glad is was useful , just happen to see it and also thought it was an interesting read
Noticed that article saying about ceratec being ceramic based , I got the same one that’s in the picture as it says it’s ok for ABS braking systems

I tried a set of them after my green stuff wore out, they were terrible no feel and performed poorly, they were in the car for two weeks and they came out and greenstuff went back in and normal service was resumed.
I still have the trw in the box in the garage why I dont know!
