Have just been advised by LR Dealer that seat covers cannot be fitted to Disco 3 front seats as this will prevent side air bag from working in an emergency. It has always been our policy to fit sheepskin seat covers to the driver and front passenger seat to prevent wear to the original trim,on this occasion we had them made specially as nothing was available off the shelf they arrived on monday but could not fit them as it required head rest to be removed. At this point we rang the dealer who explained how to remove the head rest but did not mention anything about side airbag being in the seat.Dealer phoned today Thursday to advise that while they were investigating how to remove the head restraint a warning was posted to be careful not to trigger the air bag, hence the call.
Have removed seat covers can anyone offer any update to this advice

A lot of car seats do say not to use on seats with airbags, I don't know what they do to be able to use LR own brand, perhaps they just fall apart DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Just taken a look, where are the air bags in the seat anyway? Can see them everywhere else, but the seats.

I am not totally sure, but I do not think there is an airbag in any of the seats. There is no point. You will find most in the side and window structures, then the rest in similar places in the rear.
At least the D3 will float if you run into a river, with or without seat covers?

I will go for that Si. By the way I have that sinking feeling that someone else reported. Everytime I get into the car the rear view mirror seemed higher as did the bonnet. It turns out that I am sitting on the seat lever and lowering it everytime, what a pain, physically and literally.
By the way, can you see the picture on the left, it is one of my old Disco's up to its windscreen in water, bet the D3 would struggle. Managed to put some other pictures in my gallery, must be etting better.

I have Disco 3 official seat covers (dam expensive but fit well) and they have an opening in the seat cover so the airbag can go off. Disco 3 TDV6HSE Cairns blue auto

The front cloth seats in an "S" model both have an "Airbag" label attached to the side nearest the door. Don't the leather seats in higher spec versions have the same. Having said that I cannot see a curtain airbag sign on my S model (which is usually situated in the headlining above the pillar between the front and rear doors. I wonder whether the "S" model gets airbags in the seats instead of a curtain airbag ? Disco 4 TDV6HSE
