Front suspension arm rear bushes. |
|
Hi all,
Just put my D3 on the 2 post lift as it's getting a service tomorrow and I wanted to look underneath 1st. It's been knocking from the front end a little bit so I was lookig hard at the bottom ball joints and the ARB mounts when I found lots of movement in the big bush at the rear of the front lower arm. Looking at the bush no rubber seemed split but the arm did move quite a lot.
So how much movement should there be in this bush??
Cheers,
Matt
Also this will effect wheel alignment and tyre wear so if I do change them I'll need an alignment. How do I get it into alignment mode or is it dealer only? My local tyre shop has the specs on his system but knew nothing of a set up mode.

They are OK to change, unless the bolts have seized inside the bush. Then its a
You will need to remove the arm from the car to press in and out, the bushes, so will need a 4 wheel alignment afterwards. My D3 Build Thread

You need to fill out your avatar so we know what year model you have, it helps us all to answer your questions. Issues depend on MY and also whether it is in warranty.
Dealer needs put it in geometry set mode then to Tyre shop. Especially after replacing bushes.
ARB mounts are an easy fix, adding a rubber bush between the chassis and the ARB bush. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

From what I understand the dealer puts into the tolerance mode required to do the alignment, and the car will stay in this mode until you go over 50mph, so a slow driver to the tyre/alignment shop to get it duone and then over 50mph to reset it back to normal

No - the only way to get it out of tight-tolerance mode and back into normal mode is to change the parameters using IDS (or equivalent ) - it doesn't come out of this mode on its own when you drive it faster 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue
