While his facts, as it were, may be correct, his understanding of the effects of tariffs is non-existent.
I can buy apples grown in England - they don't face a tariff - but the price I have to pay will depend on any tariffs and barriers applied to competitors. Taxes or other impediments don't impact only upon the prices of what they are levied upon - it's not rocket science.
None of the lack of tariffs is achieved because of any FTA (as demonstrated by No. 11) but the very fact he's saying this is the exception that proves the rule - there are tariffs charged to other goods/countries. His answer to this? Most of our food comes from countries with a FTA or the EU. Well yeah, it's called trade diversion and that's why interest groups lobby for the tariffs in the first place...
If you look at his pinned tweet you'll also notice that despite his apparent approbation for these 0% tariffs, he doesn't think tariffs are an issue anyway - in which case, why all the flack? Because his position is driven by his politics and not the other way around.

Duty is applied seasonally to South African orange exports to the EU.
So, although the author is correct that those South African oranges will have come in duty free, those entering in 3 weeks time will have duty applied.
South African lemons have another 5 weeks before duties are applied on entry into the EU.
Also, although the duty applied to e.g. pineapples from Costa Rica is 0% under the FTA, the EU kept the Entry Price System in the FTA whereby it can determine minimum prices for entry into the EU in order to protect EU producers. i.e. a tariff by another name.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto
