Fuel burning heater activation
Not had my 2010 for long.... looks like I’ve got a FBH but can’t see any activation settings on the dash, also no key fob. Did they get fitted to all models and mines just not ‘activated’? Guess I’d need GAP tool and a key fob to make use of it?

Hi, I have a 2007 D3 and I believe the setup is pretty much the same. After starting the engine your heater should start if there is sufficient fuel and temp is 5c or below, this should auto happen. The fob activation can be made to auto turn on before using the vehicle so the vehicle water system is nice and warm which enables quicker defrost, warmer cabin etcBelts, oil pump casing and water pump by Flack

I thought there was a menu on the screen to set parameters etc, I’ll have a read of the manual later, If I get a fob will I need GAP tool to set it up?

You need to have the timed climate feature activated if you install the LR version of the fob remote.
You probably need to speak to one of the forum supporters if you need supplying with parts + activation.Mods:

A fob shouldn't need a GAP tool. I know there isn't a menu on the D3 but dont' know about D4
There are different options for switching on and off remotely.BELL Autos amongst others supply units that work off 3rd button of key fob for one. There are others that can be texted via sim etc so work researchingBelts, oil pump casing and water pump by Flack

Options are available if it wasn't activated from new. CCF will need FBH activation if not.
You can then use the timer function from the dash to preset the FBH to come on.
Other bonuses available are to
1. Get a LR kit incl. Aerial, remote reciever and a small key fob remote.
2. Fit aftermarket Altox unit where you cam use an App to activate FBH. This requires a SIM card.
3. Use another aftermarket setup.
Have a read and you'll get the idea.
At present, your car is fitted with the FBH and you have no control over it. It decides whwn it's needed in cold weather and will startup on it's own to get the engine to temperature effectively.2011 MY D4 HSE
