Fuel Burning heater - how long should it come on for

do any of you guys know how long should the FBH stay on for, what temp it starts, should it come on if the engine is warm already, is it normall for it to stay on after the engine has been switched off

It will stay on until the coolant reaches the right temperature.

If your pootling around town it could be on all the time... if your off and driving at a good pace, it will go off pretty quickly.

It will stay on after engine off until its burnt off the fuel still in the system... for safety reasons.

Nothing to worry about unless it runs for a long time post engine off.

thanks so is coming on again when the engine is allready warmed up is also normal when it is re-started

....same for me the FBH seems to respond to air temperature not the coolant temperature...it comes on after D3 parked for say an hour....before that engine totally warmed up.

Comes on anything 5 degrees and below ..will stay on till the engine temp reaches 75 degress ( just a fraction below the half way mark on the temp guage )

FBH will run for approx 2 mins after you have switched off ..this is to purge the fuel thats in the system

How do I get in about the Webasto? Don't think it's running anymore and I need to reset it. Fuse looks ok.

My one is situated right in front of the battery.... but no obvious signs of a flame/reset switch or how to get in about the gubbins of it.

Just unplug it for a few minutes and that will reset it.

What, the unit itself I presume you mean? There's two terminal blocks connected... I take it I should disconnect those? Engine off or on during this disconnect?

While its off remove the 2 pin plug on the FBH ..one of the wires is purple ( think the other is black )

Leave it off for more than 10 seconds

No Joy guys.... disconnected the plug, even went as far as to take the fuse out. Not a peep from the unit and it's -1 in the car park.

I presume you should hear it fire up straight away? It did work before as I used to smell the fuel/see the smoke.

?????? Confused

Takes a couple of minutes to fire up ..

Have you used your car recently ..i mean have you just pulled up ..then gone an tested it .If the car coolant temp is above 75 degrees than the FBH wont come on ..even if its -1 degree

No, car's been sitting all day in an under ground car park where it's -1 and the car is stone cold. Left the engine running for a few mins to see if it fired up, but nae joy at all.

Any other cunning plans? Boy I bought it from said that a disconnect of the battery (no longer than 30 mins can reset any odd bugs in the system).

you can try that , but i wouldn't of thought it would make any difference as you have already disconnected the power to the FBH

Make sure you let the car go to sleep before you disconnect the battery ...open bonnet ..remove keys ..shut door wait 2mins (or untill red handbrake light goes out ) then disconnect battery .

Have you deffinatly checked the correct fuse ..and tested it ..not just looked at the filiment ?

The filiment looked fine so I never bothered changing it. Maybe an obvious mistake to make. Wouldn't it have seperated though if it were blown?

Checked the correct one though - F28 / 20A
