Fuel in my expansion tank

Hi guys bought a lr3 about 5 weeks ago commercial one and it didn't start up put a new battery on started up after 5 ten mins with a bit of messing about took it for a run and got 10 mins into the run and it's started like it was missing opened the bonnet and the water cooling assembly was leaking so had it recovered back home got a new part and had fitted now the problem I have is I am getting a lot of fuel in my expansion tank and been told it could be a number of things fuel cooler under the water assembly unit or fuel filter or head gasket any thoughts guys

Sounds like your fuel cooler under the driver's side might be leaking, are you sure its fuel in the system.? I would have thought if it was the head gasket, it would have over heating problems as well.

Hi

Hi mate it's not overheating to be honest but it's defo fuel in the expansion tank a few people said its fuel filter or fuel cooler broken down and mixing but can't understand why so much fuel is getting into expansion tank or header for radiator

When you say the water cooling assembly, is that the oil filter cooler assembly in the vee? This one,



If that has failed, it's likely put a fair amount of oil in the cooling system which would take a lot of flushing out.

No it's not that one it's on the top of the engine where it sits on top of the fuel cooler

Hiya mate .. did you get to bottom of this ? Mines started doing it .. I've replaced the cooler that's underneath the drivers side and it's still pumping fuel into the coolant system . Was thinking the next thing would be the oil cooler that's in the middle of the V top of the engine that the oil filter screws into.. but I don't want to mess about with it as I'm not sure fuel goes into that ? So wondered if you'd remedied the problem... cheers
