fuel gauge
Is it possible to calibrate the fuel gauge?
Example:
Had the yellow low fule light on.
Display said 33 kms left to drive until empty.
Refueled full tank 57,93 ltrs.
According to owner´s manual tank capacity is 82 ltrs.
This means that there is 24 ltrs diesel left in the tank when gauge shows empty.
I would like to know more exact when there is for example 10 ltrs left.
As I get fuel consumption around 12 ltrs/100 kms and driving long distances I am always worrying about the next stop to fill.
This for my new D4 MY2011, TDV6 !!
Would like to know when I really have to stop and refuel with better accuracy.
What is wrong?

I did not think the tank was that big? I seem to remember the tank on the D3 was bigger than the D4.5, but would have thought the D4 and D4.5 were same.

I ran mine down to just one mile remaining today (not something I do often) and it took 71 litres. I thought the capacity was 82 litres too

Apparently JLR (along with other manufacturers) always ensure that there are a few litres of fuel left in the system, even when indicating empty, as completely running out causes catastrophic problems.
The most I've ever got in my D4 is 70 litres. More common, if you fill up when the warning light is on, is 60-65 litres to fill.
