Fully Disable TPMS?

So, I have 2 sets of wheels for the D4. A genuine LR Defender summer set with genuine TPMS valves, and a genuine 19" set of alloys with TPMS valves off eBay.

The latter have worked fine until last week on a trip through France where 2 of the wheels reported as not being monitored.

Seemed a bit odd to me but wondering if the non genuine ebay TPMS valves are rubbish. They have been fitted since October.

I tried disabling TPMS on the IID, marking it as not fitted but the warning lights came back.

Is there a way to disable it?

PS- I shall be swapping the wheels back over soon which will prove if its the valves at fault or the car itself.

I wonder if the batteries in the TPMS valves have packed in? That would be my guess.

I would caution against disabling the system, if it’s even possible to do, without consulting your insurers.

Since 2012, TPMS has been a legal requirement for all new passenger vehicles sold in the U.K. and is one of the considerations for vehicle insurance categories.

I have a choice of heavy load or light load or something like that, I tend to favour light load as heavy tends to be very sensitive.
The choice can be made with settings on the steering wheel, could be worth a try.
There are two types of pressure senders they changed about 2015, are you sure you have the correct senders on both sets of wheels?

I have only used Light Load settings.

The sensors were identical from the same supplier.

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to buy SOME things for Land Rovers where they've been produced to the same if not better standard than genuine stuff and it actuallys works better too?!

It seems with anything on any Land Rover that if you buy after market or pattern parts, even OE, they go wrong. It's like a LR product will only behave itself with genuine parts sometimes. Big Cry

LR don’t make batteries or TPSenders for that matter, I’ve got two sets of wheels summer and winter the TPS works perfect on both!
Word has it the batteries last about 10 years.
