Hi. You said you had a jet wash to put it out had you just used it to wash the car ? Just wondering if you have a sunroof and the drain tube is leaking water into that area?

Would you drive a car thats had an electrical fire on a public road? I wouldn't. Who knows what electrical gremlins might appear? As for insurance, if you had a prang I doubt they would consider the car road worthy. New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)
Sold Volvo XC90 R-Design (known as Basil)
Sold - D4 HSE (Known as Gerty)
No longer the Old Buses original owner

Still original injectors and turbo
V8 Front brakes
BAS Remap, Allisport Intercooler and deCat
EGRs blanked
T-Max split charge
Hanibal Expeedition rack

Firstly no you don't have to re MOT fire or no fire
secondly insurance is still in place and in fact they wish to renew it
why do people always think the worse no way in the world would I or let any one esle drive unsafe vehicle on the road, i like them have too much to lose!
if the lights work
the wipers work
brake lights work
then that is road worthy look it up in the Regs.
also the insurance company have NOT written it off only paid for the repairs

I’ll add my voice to the self repair side of the argument but then I do enjoy messing around with my Disco’s. Depends whether you have enough spare time and another vehicle to drive while you pull it to bits. Good luck which ever you decide. Stu

Oswiperus, thanks for reply and yes I think after having the fusebox out it doesn't look that bad.
What's the saying " act in haste repent at leisure " or don't cut your nose to spite your face "
Either one I think I'll be making a mistake! Or be losing the one in doors
As we hired a " small " car for a trip, god was it bad put me off other 🚗 so uncomfortable and the road noise!
So beastly going to live again, now where's them crimpers

Get a good supply of solder and shrink tubing. A wiring diagram and buzz each out that you repair. Before powering up again check what caused the fire in the first place, something had to have shorted.

I bought a good crimping tool for £40 or so which has worked on all the LR connectors I’ve done and a key ring of de-pinning tools from China which cost me something like £2.
Here’s some links to connectors and pigtail. If it’s a breech of rules, mods please remove.
As most people know, there’s an awful lot of Ford and BMW connectors in the LR3/4 and RRS.
A good page for pigtail kits is
https://www.motorcraft.com/content/dam/for...k-2016.pdf
And other obscure connectors
http://www.automotiveconnectors.com/housings/page/5/
RS components are also a very good price and ship Very fast (18 hours from order to delivery last Thursday).
If you need help IDing connectors or pins, give me a shout.
