Wonder if F42 ( 30A) Audio unit amplifier ) would be any good as a SWL , as I’ve got the base model with no amp fitted???

Hi pete
Many thks and good to know , plus can also install the other side of the fuse terminal for the heated windscreen washer jets at the same time
However , wondering if it will be easier to pick up the switched live from the passenger glove box, number 42 , then wish to have permanent from the aux battery
Thks as always pete

I'm fairly experienced with adding/removing terminals from fuse/relay boxes.
I have terminal removal tools.
I have done this on the D3 and it was a nightmare. Very time consuming for only 3 pins or so.
I said to myself I wouldn't do it again.
Yeah fair enough, for the heated jets/screen, you maybe able to add a terminal.
but for aftermarket accessories, I would consider a simpler way.

Hi pete
As always many thks for ur knowledgeable reply
Does sound like a far easier way would be to use a piggyback fuse, see if it’s possible to tie into the engines fuse box that supplies the wing mirror heating and then leave it well alone , or insert a single terminal connector from the top into the fuse box, seen a pic somewhere I’ll try and find
Doing the same piggyback fuse on the passenger fuse box for my switched live, ie the audio amp circuit which I don’t have fitted , is rated at 30 x amps
Aux battery can easily run a positive into the upper glove box and onto a small aux fuse box
Always appreciate ur feedback back Pete as I know ur extremely knowledgeable and I’m always very grateful to u
Thks again

Hi
Found the pic, hope u don’t mind Wiggs me using it
This is the kind of thing just for the heated washer jets
Aux battery for permanent live
SWL piggyback from passenger fuse box empty slot
At the end of the day wish to make sure 100% everything is done correctly
Thks as always

Take no notice, I think I’ve dropped a clanger
Getting abit confused as the heated jets I assume have to be timed via a temp control like the mirrors
Enclosed a pic of my fusebox , F12 which is the heated washer jets , that slot is empty
Slot F16 is the mirror circuit and has a 10 amp fuse there
My head hurts

If you are trying to run a new wire to the bonnet jets then you could use a piggy back fuse into the heated mirror slot.
Assuming the lid will fit back on.

Cheers pete
Apologises got myself in a bit of a muddle as I was thinking about the relay but then looking at the wiring diagram u sent me ages ago , like a doughnut I thought the fuse was before the relay, yeh i know
Perfect, will do that then, use a piggy back fuse from ( mirror circuit ) F16 , can make a small slot in the side of the fuse boxes plastic, only need a small notch
Also looking I see both the mirror and heated jets have a 10 x amp fuse so assume I use a 10 amp fuse in the piggyback that runs up to the jets and use some 15 x amp wire , is thinwall any good please
Was Just curious about fuse rating as they will both be on the same circuit instead of them suppose to be separate fusing
Bless u for ur continued patients

Yes.
Don’t know what thin wall is.
The piggy back things have 2 fuses.
In any case using 1 10A would be fine.

Hi
Perfect , here’s also a link ref the thinwall wiring
When I finally get round adding the heated washer jets will do a write up so can help others if they also wish to do the same
Many thks as always

Hi
So revisiting this as I’ve started to take the dashboard apart and also to pick up my switched ign live for the aux fuse box going in the upper glove box
Fuse 42 is for an amp to which I’ve not got one fitted ,however there is a fuse fitted there
Just wondering if that would be ok to use by installing a piggy back fuse please
Can’t see anything else on that circuit but wished to 100% check
Many thks as always

Few piccies as well
Found the tool in the pic perfect for removing the upper glove box inner liner
The wires that the previous owner has connected to are for the Nokia Bluetooth module
Going to unwrap the insulating tape to see how they’ve joined the wires
As u look at the upper glove box, left hand red and black wires are from my air battery terminals
RH red wire is from my dual battery aux gauge
I also want to take an aux supply from the back of the radio, but looking at the wiring think it might be better to connect by the passengers footwell connector
Also found the connector for the glove box light

Done some more digging ref fuse F42
Can only see amp on that fuse , so hoping it will be ok to use as an ign live
