G4 ladder install.....anyone done this? |
|
I have installed my Frontrunner Windcheetah yesterday together with the original G4 tailgate ladder....
In what I understand it is just "hooked" above around the tailgate and put behind the black holder of the tailgate opener...
So far so good...but once installed, there is A LOT of play at the top....it wiggles left right front rear....
what did I do wrong???
How can Land Rover sell a part soooo expensive that doesn't even fit right
Anyone any advice so it is installed solid and correctly...
I will try to post a picture of my new addy's on the D3 Disco 3 TDV6 Aut. 7 seat, Zambezi silver, Privacy glass, Rosen A9 DVD, Tow-kit, K&N airfilter, Frontrunner Windcheetah + 4xHella Comet 550, tailgate ladder, 5 breaklights , Performance BB6 17" + Duratracs 256/70R17, RLD Skid-plate, Traxide second battery setup, Lightguards, BAS EGR's blank kit, BAS Silicone hose, Black bonnet decal,

Did you have a sticky foam pad in the fold at the top that does the hooking If you didn't then you need it ...if you did and there's still play the you may need to compress the fold as required to provide a tighter fit 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

DG.....AHAAA.....sticky foam.....
cause it is a second hand....you can guess....no sticky foam....
That will be the raison....so I will look for some foam or a thin rubber liner to put underneath.

Try to get the foam pad thin enough to cover both sides in the metal fold...if you just do one side it will cause damage to the paintwork over time 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
