I have had something like this on my daughters Porsche the driveshaft bolts came undone after a new clutch was fitted this caused £2500 + damage , garage will be insured to cover poor workmanship and mistakes, I got it repaired at my cost got the repairing garage to give a report of the poor standard of workmanship ,sent it to the MD of the original garage that caused the damage with an letter explaining that unless we received full reimbursement we would pursue that matter in the Small Claims Court !
We received full payment within 10 days ,why claim on you insurance when they have been negligent with your property ,the law is on your side Land Rover 90 - deceased

regarding your insurance … you need to have a discussion with them regarding cancelling your policy.
if this becomes a protracted "discussion" about getting the garage to stump up for the replacement/repairs then it's all well and good your insurer saying "only come to us if they don't play ball", but you are only entitled to do that whilst you are insured with them. Which, if you don't have a car you can use, could just be money going down the pan.
Mine gave me similar advice when the car was stolen but never said I should cancel. Although they were slow, the garage covered the losses up to what i'd originally paid for the car plus £500 towards contents. So roll forward 6 months and I go to my insurer needing replacement insuring, their first reaction was I needed to pay in full again. Fortunately, I had enough details about who I'd spoken to and when, and they conceded I'd not been advised I should cancel so they gave me an ex-gratia payment to cover it. .

Its been a while very busy with work.
Update this was going through insurance but after a few weeks they changed their minds due to a technicality as it was not malicious damage. So was speaking directly with the underwriter for about a week. And to be fair he tried to get it through various ways as if filled all the criteria but one. So even if your fully comp insurance with business if your car is damaged you might not be fully covered.
Thats left only one route to go now. Small claims court. Got very good free legal advice off a local solicitor that specialises in claims. And they have been instructed to do take what is necessary to sort out the mess. Not cheap but you are able to get your court fees back once you have won. I have been fortunate that the underwriter gave me the insurances independent engineers report assessment of the disco. Costings of market value and all the costings for parts and labour to fix correctly and the txt message.
By now the first letter has been sent.
Once this is all sorted out i will let everyone know the garage in question. For now the disco is parked up and i'm not able to use it or do anything with it till the legal process is concluded. Some people live in the fast lane I seem to live in oncoming traffic.

Its currently going through the legal process which takes a long time and money. I can't go into any details until the process has been completed. Some people live in the fast lane I seem to live in oncoming traffic.

How’s progress on this matter
I can’t see why cutting this hole has helped them?
Having said that, I’ve never attempted a vacuum pump change, and wouldn’t want too
