Has anyone managed to get this fixed using a third party warranty like Warranty Direct?
Thanks
I had mine replaced with a WD warranty.

I've just ordered some transistors to try this.
They should be here by end of week. Will report back when I have some news.
Any luck yet?

Unfortunately not yet. Haven’t found the time.
Can send you a couple of transistors if you want? Drop me a PM with your address and I’ll pop some in the post tomorrow Discovery 4 HSE - Aintree Green

That’s very kind, but I’m not that technically minded. Thanks

So I went for it and ordered the transistors through Mouser.com. It actually worked! Thanks for all the info on here. If anyone in the Los Angeles area needs this, hit me up. I ordered a few extra just in case.

Today I highlighted the gear selector, soldered the usual blue 3 mm LEDs in series, five each, pressed on the circumference of the ring which is responsible for the selector backlight.
I connected the power supply from the cigarette lighter socket.

Today I checked what the red and yellow selector backlight looks like ..
Only this time we use a LED strip, it fits perfectly, but I don't know if you need a resistor because the strip is 12V and the voltage in the car reaches 14.7V.

Today the blue led strip arrived, so I replaced the gearbox selector light.

Unfortunately, the LED strip is not suitable for backlighting the selector ...
It lights up very nicely but gives off too much heat .
I went back to 3mm single leds

Had the green illumination failure on my gear selector.
Fitted a new one today. I think it is the XXV version. Much cheaper than the regular one with black top.
Easy job once you work out all the screws that need removing to free the panel the selector unit is fixed to.Just 'cause you got the power... that don't mean you got the right.

i think i wont be able to solder this myself.
Anybody from germany done this before?
(the transistor cost almost nothing, shipping was quite expensive - so i bough a few - in case anybody from germany needs one - let me know!
Regards and happy holidays!

Is there any more progress on this? Did the transistor swap work? Any info. appreciated.
The LR price is outrageous and the cheapies from China are just that as far as I can see.
My 2016 has failed lights and green ring, the LR service centre does not think the TSB will get it changed.
