Gearbox cover
I put this picture in our club magazine as a follow up to our grasshopper plague where I had the front of the car covered in grasshoppers but I hadn't checked the cover below the gearbox until recently Our club president has a RR Sport and he said his cover doesn't have the padding/insulation clipped into his cover. Do other D3 owners have this same padding and is it necessary in our climate

I don't have that padding on mine. Perhaps it was for early D3's to reduce some noise?Bodsys Brake Bible

Yep - I have that padding on mine.
I changed the shield when I had a slight bump off-road.
The replacement shield came without the padding or clips and I just swapped them over. I seem to remember it is listed in the parts catalogue.
Interestingly the old shield had a separate alloy heat shield (in the round recess) but this wasn't on the new one nor were there fittings - instead the area was coated in some sort of reflective paint (almost like tin foil).I see no ships........

I'm pretty sure when I dug the mud out of mine it had a mat. (Reg June 2006)Mark.
