Hi All,
I have a D4 with the 2.7 litre engine and automatic gearbox, the car is great, except that the gearbox locks up from time to time and the car has to be swithched off to clear the fault which re occurs in odd gears, sometimes pulling away in first other time s 3rd etc. It has been to the dealer 4 times for this and they have downloaded softwae updates and cleared all the fault codes to no avail. The faults first occured at 5000km's and the vehicle has only covered 12000 now. Has anyone experienced something similar or have any ides where to start looking for the solution. On a 300km journey today I had to switch off over 10 times to clear faults in the first hour and then after that it behaved all the way home. Any suggestions would be very welcome. Thanks

Have you changed any rear brake light bulbs lately? The reason I ask is that we had exactly the same problem on our D3 2.7 auto & it turned out that it didn't like Halfords brake light bulbs, something about a backfeed screwing up the canbus. Wierd but true, when we used oem bulbs the problem cleared.

Thanks for the response. The vehicle has LED's at the rear and I checked them all are working well.
