It's not wise to spend that much, when you may need a replacement gearbox next year.
As mike said, skip the filter change.
Use aftermarket fluid that is suitable for ZF6HP
(but not red oil)
If you like getting your hands dirty you can change the fluid yourself.

There is a place in Dartford who was highly regarded on the BMW forums for doing gearbox work and they use the ZF boxes. I spoke to him when I had my E61 and he quoted about £300 for flush, new filter and sump and refill.2006 TdV6 HSE.

Thanks all,
Got a quote from another garage and it’s now around £300 without filter like Disco_Mikey said.
Suppose I could do it myself I will look into that. Will it need a double flush ?
So does this mean its terminal for the box then or will this make improvements
Garage giving the new quote says could be fluid foaming and the flush will stop it (pretty sure it still original).2005 D3 SE Auto, zermatt silver

Contact Bodsey here on the forum. Had mine done and fixed the same faults your describing.
Price way less than your quoting.
