Would a car registered 30/03/2012 not have this latest software ?

Interesting, mine falls somewhere inbetween those numbers so it may well be worth a call to my dealer, cheers !

Initial impressions very favourable!
Much more responsive on the throttle and more eager to change down when you press the throttle at lower speed.
The hesitation, though not gone totally, is very much improved.
I will run it for a week to let it get used to my driving style and post my impressions.

Good stuff - my initial 'squeaks and rattles' visit to the dealer resulted in the original squeaks and rattles being made rather more apparent than they were before they got 'fixed'
Another trip to the dealer is planned anyway, so I will get them to twiddle with this new software while it is in.

Mmmm, mine too, but unfortunately, the girl on service reception of supplying dealer ............. "computer says.....NO !!"
Contacted another dealer who is closer anyway, waiting to see what happens next ?

If you are having a problem then it should be fixed under warranty irrespective of VIN. They have a fix for your issue so they should apply it. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Peely - I'd be forceful with them - must be something wrong with your car & the software is most likely culprit, as the new 8HP70 is a gem of a gearbox, far more responsive than the 6spd with near instant pick-up and kick-downs that seamlessly drop several gears at once when needed

Car booked in for this Friday with local dealer !
Would be interested in anyone else if they get it updated as to what their views are and if it did indeed sort the problem out ?
Must admit, I have never been disappointed with the kick down or the gearbox overall really, just the hesitation for drive when setting off from standstill, let's hope it sorts it !

Had my update last Friday, dealer was telling me that they had had quite a few requests and questions about the mod from 2012 owners.
I must admit initially it did feel a lot better than before, take up from standtill is a lot more positive and quicker, downshifts especially at lower speeds seem better.
The dealer also informed me that mine required a brake (switch?) or some mod because of possibilities of brake binding, which I had no experience of ? Saying that, the best average mpg I'd had in 600 miles was 24.6 on a motorway at 70-80mph. On my way home via the m/way my average instantly went up to 27.8, so I guess they must have been binding, or the gearbox mod had also helped ?
Don't get me wrong, the gearbox is far from perfect as far as instant drive take up from standstill compared to other autos I've tried, but it's definately better !
Personally I think the only way forward is a re-map to try and eradicate the problem totally, but when, and who knows ?

Interesting...and more details on the brake binding issue, as fuel consumption is often an issue raised about the D4
