I just can't believe the ATR will have anywhere near as much grip as the AT2 as such I would fell I'm replacing a road tyre for another "road" tyre.
I can vouch that they do - those are my wheels & tyres now and I did a Wales trip with AndrewS & Catweasel with those on because I couldn't be to change them to my AT2s - I thought I'd regret it, especially when we got to this spot:

but got through no problem LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

I think most people will see the difference between the Pirelli ATR and the General AT2 tread patterns.
The fact is that if you want an All Terrain tyre in 19" at present the Pirelli ATR is the best and only choice, but if you need an 18" All Terrain tyre there are a couple of choices, again the Pirelli ATR and the General AT2, so which way do you go ???????
Fact: I can't count how many General AT2 255/60x18 tyres we have sold to date.
Fact: I can count how many Pirelli ATR 255/60x18 tyre we have sold, four sets to date.
Does that tell you something.
Some will say "bet he earns more money from General".
Answer: "NO" we don't, same percentage from both makes.
Our customers choice, just take a look at the two tyres and there is not much of a contest, the General IS better.
We find very few people will give negative comments on what they have spent their hard earned cash on because they don't like to addmit they were wrong with their choice, it's a free world and you "pays your money and makes your choice".
Would be a boring old world if we all dressed the same, drank the same beer and drove the same car, if you know what I mean.
Fact: Even a blind man could "feel" the difference between these two tyre choices and I for one "choose" to use the General AT2 on most of our 4x4's, I have tried both makes and IMHO the General wins hands down.
And still a sensible price, so don't muck about "BUY GENERAL AT2" (from me)
We have never had any negative feedback on the General AT2, and the only negative feedback on the Pirelli ATR is that they are not too good in standing water as they won't let the water out.
Have a great day
Andy.

Andy’s right about the choice for 19’s is very limited if you want a All terrain tread The Pirelli ATR is the only current choice, would be nice if there was an alternative to compare.
Don’t get hung up on the tread pattern make no mistake the ATR is a very capable All Terrain tyre, countless green ice expo’s this winter .
I would say the price difference contributes to the sales difference also the visual appearance of the AT2 aids the sales. Massive issue for me is the soft sidewall that the AT2’s have.
Ran AT2’s in Morocco and they performed faultlessly and when they are available in 19’s I’ll try some

With respect Ken, not every 4x4 owner is a mud plugger or avid expeditioner, most just want an All Terrain tyre to go about their normal day to day duties, i.e. towing of the highway, maybe it a horse trailor or whatever.
I know on this forum there are more owners who want to use their D3 to it's full ability, but others don't.
I can only give the feedback we are given and as I said the General come's out on top.
I will always give my customers the choice of what's available in their size, be it 17", 18" or 19", and price will always come into it, especially at present.
I like the Pirelli but prefer the General AT2, it's "MY CHOICE" and by far the majority of my customers choice, they could all be wrong but I very much dought it.
One big plus for me is that General give so many choice's in the AT2, as we don't just fit tyres to D3's.

Is the Michelin 4x4 A/T 255/55 R19 (XL 111T) available/suitable in the UK? It might be a 19" option.

I accept the thead was mainly about "19" All Terrain's, but I did read this with sleep in my eyes.
Andy any sidewall problems with the AT2? Looks like the AT2 is better than the BFG ATKO but was not sure on side wall strength. In your opinion which is more off road capable the cooper ZEON ltz or the AT2? Do you have the Hankook dynapro rf10 on your side of the pond? If so what do you think about it?2005 SE-7 BLUE
