Matron! Rolling with laughter
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

My eighteen year-old daughter loves semi-colons. She uses them correctly and finds they help the flow of her writing (as they are intended to do). Punctuation is a courtesy to the reader - if writers can't be bothered to use punctuation and at least attempt some grammatical structure, I can't be bothered to read it.

You only have to see some of the attempts at English in eBay listings to know that all is not well!

Generation Z does not tend to challenge itself with the sort of reading that imbues an understanding of the written word. Heck, they can't even divide £3 6S 5d by seven in their head!

Just about, thanks, Paul! Very windy and (our recently cleared) ditches are flowing nicely. Wink

A bit more rain might clean the muddy horses. Very Happy

Why would they need to? Punctuation is still useful. That calculation, however, is not. Wink

My son and I had a Skype call this afternoon so that he could walk around his student digs and I could identify the thermostat for the central-heating and instruct him on its use. Shocked

My wife says that sort of thing comes under Man Things and our son's lack of awareness is, therefore, my fault. Rolling Eyes

Put that in there as SWMBO has a habit of lurking here, even though she’s sitting on the other sofa. Shocked Shocked

You're a lucky man if SWMBO leaves the thermostat to you.

I have a friend who, when newly married, got fed up with his wife altering the setting on the thermostat with a greater frequency than the time it took for the heating system to respond and settle to the new temperature. His peaceful solution was to move the wiring to a replacement thermostat hidden in a cupboard, and leave his wife to blissfully fiddle with the original every few minutes.

I wonder if he told the new owners when he sold the house . . . ?
