I was thinking about getting one of these fitted to my D3.
But I thought I'd get your valuable feedback first.
I've been advised that they rattle and squeak and carry on, is this true?
What do people who have them think of them?

No rattle and squeak from mine. It's a good unit, no problems at all with it. Worth its weight in gold to keep the kids quiet! My only concern with it is how much of the rear view you lose with it - basically you lose the use of your rear view mirror.
Mine was a freebie, but if I were paying I'd probably go for a twin screen like the one one of this sites' advertisers supply, especially considering how much LR charge.Disco 5 HSE Lux

You're correct, but you can access about 10-20mm of the rods. I've spoken to the Brodit supplier and they assure me that the headrest brackets do fit the D3 and can be fitted okay. I will know later this week.Matt
No squeaks or rattles with mine. If you do go for the 'Rosen' make sure they fit the 'bits of foam' for the interior alarm as mine kept going off until Land Rover came up with this Hi tech fix !! Definately keeps the kids amused and if they are happy then my permagrin doesn't get affectedPot Noodle Challenge Winner 2011

Mine wouldn't be a freebie, but I'd be concerned with tampering with too many of the electrics in the car.
Perhaps I should ask my dealer what his 'Special/Good' price is after all?

My wife has a sony, single screen - folding like a book, in her car. The support does not match the D3 since you have to insert the head rest rods through the support .
This means it is needed that you unfit the headrest. I tried it in the D3 but because I was lazy and far from sure what I was doing, I rather abandonned my experiment.
On occasional long trips with the D3 and daughter, I strap it to the seat.
Highly recommended! It solves perfectly the problem of kids in the car.
My wife laughed at me when I bought it, now she couldn't do a week without.
These aftermarket solutions are cheap, good and easy to replace when broken (I assure you that you will want to have it repaired immediately) .
but appealing to thieves....
I've fitted a Brodit headrest screen mount bracket. You can buy them from http://www.dsldevelopments.com/brodit/proc...roclip.asp
I just need to order another one now, as I mistakenly assumed they came as a pair.
They fit okay. There is just enough of the headrest stems visible to fit them if you squeeze the headrest.
Brodit also sell some other interesting mounts.Matt

Wow, roof mounted for me as I wouldn't fancy someone hitting their head on one of those in an acident. D4 3.0 GS Auto due in July

What % of time is the rear DVD ever going to be used?
We have a £129 2 screen thingy (THE cheapest that we could find) that we bought specifically for summer holiday trips to Cornwall & Dorset. We also use it on trips to in-laws in Yorkshire.
Comes with straps and sort of hangs round the head restraint, if you tighten the strap to the max fits very snug.
Unless journey is going to be over an hour we have no need for DVD, and I would say we have journeys of over 1 hour, with the children, once every 3-4 MONTHS at most.
What I am getting at is that it seems like a massive hassle to fit brackets or to retro roof mount something that is so rarely used or needed.
I completely agree Nick. That is why I only have a £150 twin screen DVD.
I've got to fit the brackets though, as the screens came with holders and velco straps. These straps are too short for the large D3/RRS headrests. The brackets make it a neat and cheap solution.Matt
I have a really good quality philips portable dvd player and screen in one. We use it with the telly in our bedroom, I use it in hotels and on flights and we sling it in a travel bag and it either sits on the cubby box or hangs between the seats / over a headrest when in the car. And I have over a grand saved compared the the LandRover option...
And it works in the other cars too"To finish first, one first has to finish ...."
