German Trailer Socket

Does anyone in Germany or anyone who has purchased a car in Germany have a trailer lighting socket. If so, please contact me.

AN, the first point is your trailer socket a 13 pin or the old EU standard ones with black and grey connectors.

If they are the old ones, please connect your trailer into the black one and switch on the rear fog lights. The trailer lights should illuminate, but the car should not. Whilst the lights are switched on disconnect the trailer connector from the car and the car light should come back on.

Brian,

I will check which kind of connector I have on the car (I have removable towbar, factory fitted), but I do not have a trailer and I do not know anybody who has one, thus I cannot try the foglights trick.

That is a shame, but if you have the 13 pin socket, it will not help either Sad

Hi BN,

why you are looking for a 7 pin socket only ?
Is the switching off of the rear fog lamp only working with the 7 pin socket and NOT working with the 13 pin socket ?

I have on my D3 HSE a 13 pin socket and the rear fog lamp is working either if connect the trailer or not.

Week ago an engeneer of LR Germany had a look to it but he was not able to change it in that way that it works fine.
