Our neighbours cat used to in our veg patch and our daughters play area, which is a few inches deep in rubber chippings.
When I saw it in the garden I'd wind my dog up in to a frenzy and then let her out to chase it. It took a few weeks but it's not been back in years now.
We do have an animal up our front door, which has stained the UPVC. We're not on a dog walking route so assume it's another cat. That one will be going back to its owner, alive, but in a sack, with an invoice for a new front door when I catch it.

Selling this as I never use it. No reasonable offer refused.
anyway ... being serious (briefly) ... pepper dust did the business in our garden. the cats still insist on walking through but never linger long enough to leave presents.

I know it might be considered excessive, but have you considered Napalm as a permanent solution?

We have 6 cats and 4 dogs so there’s a lot of 💩 Bracken the golden retriever tends to clear most of the cat 💩up 🤮🤮and has a good go at Barry and teds 💩 !!!
The cat in the pic ( Frank ) spends all its time with the dogs and even goes out for a bed time pee when the dogs go out .-------------------------------------------------
if you cant hold on dont let go , it ill come in handy for something even if you never use it.

The catnip solution works well - years ago my neighbour and the next one down had cats (several each) that used my garden as a latrine... One of them had a party to which I was invited and a few catnip seeds "fell out of my pockets" into the boarder between the two gardens. A few weeks later the cats were as high as kites and never bothered leaving their own gardens again.Rob Smith
