Bomb hoaxes are relatively easy and definitely low cost compared to using a drone at an airport. Send something that looks "wrong" and watch chaos ensue for a few hours. Easy.
Why do they do it? No doubt they think they have a good reason. Bit like the idiots who set fire to straw bale stacks so they can watch the fire brigade playing with their hoses, I guess.
Same as back in the day, during the troubles in NI. There was a spate of hoax calls. Caused huge disruption. They became known as the 10p terrorists. This was back in the day when there were payphones that worked HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE
They shall not grow old as those of us left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condem. At the going down of the sun, and in the morning WE WILL REMEMBER THEM

Growing up near to the Met & Jubilee lines in London I was twice on a train that had to be stopped because an incendiary device had gone off, each time in the vicinity of Kilburn/Neasden funnily enough.
I recall the train announcer during the second incident was quite matter of fact that we'd be terminating at Finchley Road because a package was on fire on the train.
I don't think either incident even made the news.
Also recall being seconded from Panasonic to Selfridges during Christmas when the IRA were leaving small bombs in London stores. It wasn't too bad in the photo/video department but I did feel sorry for those working in the handbags & suitcases section having to check every single bag at the end of the day.
Oldest son's girlfriend is at Glasgow Uni and she rang in a very worried state yesterday.
I told him to tell her to not be so soft, but I don't think he did! Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

Another day another bomb scare, this time at the crichton campus in dumfries
My daughter's office is just behind the fire engine on the left and they were unable to be evacuated as it was considered safer if they stayed in the offices
She said she felt worried but they had a policeman with them to make sure they didn't leave and she said it was a bit worrying when you see people walking around like this on the campus. The MOD did a controlled explosion at the uni yesterday.
