In the marine world once a boat is out of the water for the winter its common practice to slosh some antifreeze through the raw water cooling system to mix with any salt/fresh water left in the engine, come the spring its back in the water and all the antifreeze is now in the river water!
If left in the water theres no need to protect the raw water side as even when the air temp is below freezing the engine will still not freeze.

I drain mine onto the mono block driveway - the weed killing properties are beneficial and it's far better then putting it into either the foul or surface water drainage systems... Thumbs Up
