Here we go again bl**dy vermin

Anyone got pictures of underside of disco3 body while doing a body off exercise. Need to find out where these blighters are getting in.
Damage:-

Culprit:-

Two weeks ago I removed the extraction vents behind the rear lights, as there were chew marks on one, and hot glued a gauze over them.

Now bought more traps and ordered mouse poison (friendly to things that might eat the mice). The problem is they are field mice and there are loads in the fields around me.
Stopping them getting into the vehicles would be the best option.
So if you have any ideas on entry points.
I've had the one about buy a cat or two. There are two feral cats that live next to the field!

Hope you don’t get them start on the pipe connections on the fuel tank - had a new tank after they gnawed a hole through an elbow. ISTR someone did a successful fix with Tiger Seal when they had a similar attack.

Be careful using poison, you don’t want them eating it then crawling off someone to die leaving a stench

They did my tank when car was only a few months old, they also revisited that area to chew the diesel pipe to the FBH pump. They've also chewed the FBH fuel supply pipe under front nearside wing. Various attempts to destroy the engine cover insulation (now run one of those sonic scarers under the bonnet).
Unlike rats that do stink to high heaven when they decay mice are different and don't.
There can only be a limited number of holes in the body shell for cables to exit through, they should have grommets but these mice seem to like rubber and diesel (government should tax them), don't want to do a body off exercise just to discover entry point/s for rodents.

Does anyone know where the delivery drivers put their tie down straps on disco 3 and are there any rubber bungs supplied that should be replaced in pdi. Research on mouse entry points shows this as a potential area on another make. Have found mouse activity in left hand lower storage area in boot area. Loads of wires and grommets in there. Spare wheel off tomorrow and detailed inspection. Another trapped mouse yesterday. Got a wildlife camera set up tonight to see if they come in through that left hand storage area.

Hi,
good luck with sealing any holes, but sadly if you have got mice about even if you stop them getting INside the car, they still like to get in the engine bay and as said on the fuel tank.

why do they like fuel pipes Exclamation have had our petrol garden gear eaten a few times Big Cry

When I had a new company Mondeo it was parked outside and had engine insulation and wiring loom wrap eaten Exclamation luckily caused no issues

Have traps down on the "expected" travel route, but don't bait them, don't want to actually Invite them in Rolling Eyes
Poison can be used in the garage if needed

Problem solved - I hope - mice getting in through spare wheel winch hole. In July I fitted my own build of spare wheel protector to a new to me full size spare and decided to modify the access to the winch bolt with socket and extension. Must have been called away to do something else and didn't fit the grommet over the hole. Didn't remember on return (age issue).
Dropped spare off today and could see my socket from underneath then it dawned on me. Big Cry Censored Embarassed . But now have 50 mouse poison boxes and a large tub of wildlife friendly poison. Already placed about 20 round part of the perimeter of the garden the rest will be done tomorrow. Disco now has four wheels parked on paving slabs (set in gravel drive) and paving slabs have jeyes fluid around the edge. This is war! If anyone has left that grommet out on their spare wheel winch, you leave it out at your peril.
As a matter of interest why didn't landrover mount that winch further back so you could get to it without having to lift the seats. There appears to be plenty of room. Anyone tried moving it?
Riverblanche - I stop them getting into the engine bay by using one of those sonic thingys plugged into the mains.
Must get some more jeyes fluid Mr. Green

Here we go again

As you can probably see the little critters have been busy again this time on my Audi A6 alroad. This is the breather pipe from top of the diesel tank to filler neck and they have chewed almost all of it. Discovered on Saturday when I flooded the petrol forecourt with quite a lot (so it seemed) of diesel. If i cant get the plastic elbow as a part it should have a another tank but to change it requires the rear transaxle removal so me thinks a plumbing fitting will have to suffice. What is the attraction of diesel to mice?

Park in a chicken run inhabited by fierce fowl:

On a more serious note, I read in magazine about someone who slid a tray of baited traps under his car every night during winter. As well as a couple of traps in the car.

Just bought 2 of the mouse blockers. To fit under bonnet of Disco and Audi. The trouble is the fuel tanks are at the other end or in the case of the disco in the middle so they are unlikely to cover those areas. Been looking at electric fences/mats. Some interesting designs. Looking at Rat mats at the mo.

I wouldn't worry about where they got in.. I had some issues on my FL1 and D4.

They kept taking stuff into my heater fan on the Fl1 so when I turned it on it rattled around and drove me mad, I found where they got in and blocked it.. they just chewed throung anothing bit of plastic to get in..

On the D4, the ate the rear park sensor harness and the O/S rear light harness, right next to the bloody plugs as well so it couldn't be joined, had to replace the entire light and the whole parking sensor harness..

They kept Censored on top of the engine at the oil cap, I guess they must have crawled in there while the engine was still warm.. I concentrated in making sure the car was immaculate inside (not easy with 3 kids) and set traps and poison elsewhere, I put poison in the FL1 and traps in our store where we keep the horse feed. I caught 3 and haven't had an issue since.. I was lucky that they didn't chew through anything too important..

I have had a mouse problem in the last few days.

I purchased 4 of these:-

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Big-Cheese-Ultra-...amp;sr=1-1

and some additional bait at the enormouse (sic) cost of £11.60

They have worked quite well - 3 mice caught in 24 hours; BUT one trap has gone missing!

Reset the other 3 & await results.
