Exactly what I did on my D4, took it to the Indy following day - who smirked and said EVERYONE does it.
Weirdly, replacement sensor also faulty - immediate warning lights again, replaced with one from a running D4, perfect.Now Golf GTI PP, 7 speed DSG.

Carb or brake cleaner only, if you poke anything into the sensor you risk damaging the diaphragm rendering it kaput yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

OK I have replaced the MAP Sensor with a new one and all faults immediately disappeared and I am back to where I was before the attempt to "polish" the old MAP Sensor with cotton bud & WD40, hole an all....
Still sluggish at low revs and fuel filter only fault code as it was pre cleaning incident.
It goes in tomorrow morning for a new Fuel Filter/Casing/Sensor (as per code) so hopefully that will cure it completely.
Thanks to all above for kind assistance. I must leave mechanics to mechanics.

Mine always felt flat post new sensor until a smoke test revealed a tiny leak on a manifold o-ring.Now Golf GTI PP, 7 speed DSG.

I suspect not.
Amateur diagnostics and amateur mechanics.
It just felt flat, no codes.
After leak finally fixed, felt OK but never as good pre. CSOV failure and replacement earlier that year.Now Golf GTI PP, 7 speed DSG.

I suspect my flat feeling is the fuel filter sensor fault. This does not show a code other than "Water in fuel" flashing up on dash occasionally. Will find out tomorrow after new fuel filter/casing/sensor fitted....

I have this occasionally as well, but I haven't noticed a drop in performance?
I would be interested to know if it helps as I have a new filter and holder in the garage at home waiting to fit.2010 Disco 4 HSE

...finally did the MAP cleaning yesterday. Engine seems to run more smoothly, or perhaps I am just thinking so... don't know, it least I did something good for my Disco

This was mine today. Still has egr's, serviced regularly. 125,000 miles. No engine management faults showing.

So thought I would share the love from today.
191k with a new engine 32k ago, no idea if the MAP was changed with the engine, EGR is blanked.

This was the condition of my map sensor this weekend. My 54 plate car with 112k miles still has egr valves working.
I’m sure I’ve noticed an improvement in power. Both in acceleration and pulling up hill. I shall check it again in a few months and see how much build up there is.

Just cleaned my MAF. In a very short test drive it has made a noticeable difference. I was having a problem with the engine stalling immediately after starting, this has gone along with the engine hunting slightly when at idle in drive. It also smokes a lot less on acceleration and seems to have a bit more get up and go.
The egrs were blanked by the previous owner however I don't think that the MAF was cleaned! If it gets better mpg then happy days 8)
