Going to the Caravan & Camping show at NEC ? (18-23/02/1

Well I did the boat show at Excel in Jan, the dive show at Excel last weekend and as I am in Birmingham area this week so thought of going to the Caravan & Camping show, anyone been to a recent one? We haven't been for a couple of years but have a Motorhome and love the outdoors. My wife is more into Watersports so gets her thrills at the other events, although I get heavily involved the Watersports as well I also quite like the dirty side of things, so wild camping and survival is one of my interests, just wondering if the show will just be full of the normal plastic or whether any interesting bits gets exhibited. It's not cheap to get in so if anyone has been this week already I would be interested in your views on it.

Cheers

Depends on what you're after. There are loads of the plastic rubbish around.

There are however some good deals on better kit. Isabella were doing a deal on their director chairs, some dealers were doing a small discount on awnings. Caravan covers have discounts too.

At the last show we went to we ordered a towing cover and had a think over a full cover too as the combined discount was even better. Unfortunately we forgot to go back to change the order but we called them the next working day and they changed it for us to the show price. Glad we did as the cover has been great. With all the weather we've had the cover keeps the van nice and dry and stops all the staining when the rain dries.

Thats a little too personal Very Happy

I went to just the caravan show at the NEC a couple of years ago and found it a little boring, and extremely crowded. But I guess its a great place to go if your buying a new caravan and know the exact spec you want, so you can play the traders off against each other.

It is a good show, I am on the Caravan Club stand. Plenty of interesting items around, a completely new style of Swift caravan, another modern build technique. Some great deals around if you haggle. The economy is picking up and there is a great deal of interest in the great outdoors. Some boats have returned this year.

Come and look us up on Saturday.
