What is a good cheap fault code reader for D3? |
|
I have a 2008 Discovery. It has a Red Flashing parking brake fault on the dash. I found the original cause of the problem (me). I had allowed the controller to seize because I didn't adjust up the parking brake shoes enough. I have now wound back the motor/gearbox in the module and adjusted the shoes correctly. Motor in the module runs fine by connecting an external 12v supply. But the motor does not move normally and the red light is still flashing. Is there a reset I should do from the Canbus?
Hence the reason to ask if there is a good ODBII reader that can reset this fault. Or is my parking brake just broken?. Thanks for any replies.

Yes, thanks, I have already done this procedure and it worked to unseize he EPB but the fault light on the dash still remains. It asks me to apply the handbrake even when it is already applied. I wonder if the Force Sensor could be faulty as well. Do you know if it is possible to check the sensor?

There might be someone in your area with a Pro IID that can reset it for you in exchange for beer tokens?

Another option - get an icarsoft i930. Should be able to pick one up second hand for about £50-60. 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

Is the icarsoft i930 good? Have you got one. I was looking at it on eBay. Do you know if it can put the parking brake into service mode, so that I can operate it?

I have an i930. Yes it's good as a fault code reader and can clear faults which is what you originally asked. It cannot, AFAIK put the parking brake into service mode or calibrate suspension etc. 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

Thanks, for the exact info. What does AFAIK mean?
