Good experience with Warrantywise. |
|
I thought I would share my experience with Warrantywise. When I was buying my D3 last year I tried to get some opinions on them but found few people had experience of Warrantywise.
I purchased a 3 year warranty for £1900, to include platinum cover (highest level) with all warranty additions including ICE, single limit claim of £8000 and maximum limit of £25,000 and no excess. I was happy enough with that and just had to hope that in the event of a claim they would come through.
Here is the claims experience.
I'd gone to the USA for three months, leaving my step father in charge. Before I left there was a problem with the wipers, wipers worked but stopped in the upright position. I'd put this on the back burner until I got back from the USA as it was only a minor issue. Just after christmas my stepfather noticed the gear lever would not stay in drive, he had to hold it in drive. I got him to take it to Charles Hurst and got them to take it up with Warrantywise.
They faxed the paperwork over, Hursts faxed it back and mentioned the wiper problem. My stepfather called Warrantywise the next day and was told no one available today, call back tomorrow, tried again the following day and eventually got through. They wouldn't cover the gear problem as it was a lever and bush causing the problem, but would cover the full cost of the wiper repair.
My stepfather asked the garage if that sounded reasonable and they agreed, saying that the bushes was something you'd expect to repair.
Charles Hurst wouldn't bill Warrantywise direct, My stepfather had to pay. Sent of the paperwork to Warrantywise on 4th January and received a cheque on 11th January for the full cost of the Wiper and approx half the cost of the bush (not sure why they paid any of this). They had no problem in dealing with my stepfather for the repair, though they did send the cheque to me.
They met and probably excedded expectations, however the biggest problem my stepfather found with them was getting someone to agree to the repair. He said it took a number of phonecalls,(this was between christmas and New Year) he thinks the office is small and maybe if someone is out of the office this could take some time.
All in all, a positive experience.

Yes, getting hold of them is incredibly difficult, although I found the hidden section that says "if you want Quentin Wilson to investigate" section. Within a couple of hours of e mailing him I had the MD on the phone, we came to an agreement, maybe not perfect, but something I could live with. Would I recommend them, probably not, but then reading this lot on here on warranties, the only decent one is the manufacturers original 3 year one, I'm taking the "save up" warranty rather than splash out. No, I was quite happy. It seems as good as / maybe better than most of the W D stories I've read here.
