How good is the remote heater?

Hi all, have been thinking about getting the remote climate function added to my car, and Bodsy has kindly put me in touch with someone in my neck of the woods who can fit it for me. Before I go ahead and spend the money, is it worth it? How much difference does it make on a freezing cold morning when your windscreen is frozen?

Deffo worth it. Thumbs Up Added it to my D4, great just to press the button, have breakfast and the screen is cleared (well enough for the wipers) and engine much easier to start.

I can only describe it as marvellous, one of the best thing I've found about the D4 over the D3 in 3 weeks of ownership, I can really feel the heat coming out of the car when the door is opened and that is with it being on only 15 minutes, although it is only around freezing point outside, never got this hot in the car with the D3, very, very good. Thumbs Up

I’d go for it, have it on mine, more useful than timed climate, remember it’s not just winter that it’s useful, hot summer days, use it to blow cooler air into the cabin to chill it down a bit.

Definitely worth it. Car is warmer and reduces wear on the engine.

Can be fitted yourself if you want, and if you have an IID.

Get a spare wheel protector too if you haven’t already.

And if you go the altox route you get a tracker too.

Thumbs Up Altox is definately the way to go, although I've got remote I am tempted with the advantages of Altox, with or without the tracker.

Hmm... I'm sold on the remote climate. Smartphone control is always great but a quick Google suggests it's another £200 on top of the other kit? Not sure I can justify that.

It only needs enabling Thumbs Up no other kit needed as far as I'm aware!

Right, I'm confused...

The fbh is already in the car.

Option 1: The timed climate function can simply be enabled, with no parts added

Option 2: The timed climate enabled, plus the remote kit fitted

How does the Altox device fit into all this? You don't need the remote kit if you've got the Altox?

The Altox is the remote it replaces the LR kit. Send Bodsy a PM he will put you right, you could have it up and running this week-end. Thumbs Up

Got mine thru bodsy. Becasue glow plugs are knackered. Put mine on for half hour and it will start no probs even at -4 where as before 2 degree minimum to start 3ven then battery would nearly be flat.
