Goodyear Wrangler Good Deal |
|
Hi guys, i decided that after getting 70000kms out of the original set, to stick with what works, and got a new set of 4.
I thought i would share the good deal with you all, in case anyone is in the market for a set.
I did a fair bit of calling around to get the best price, i was quite shocked in the price variance against each tyre shop. The difference was up to $130 each tyre.
So if you are in need, drop me a PM, and i will pass on there details to you. Located in Northern suburbs Melbourne.
cheers

70,000km

And by the time I'd reached 20k, I'd sliced the sidewalls of 4 of them! But it provided the justification to SWMBO to get a set of MTRs Maybe Nthn Melbourne has smooth, unbroken bitumen with no rubbish on the road to wear the tyres or knock the alignment. Jim Dowell - D4 HSE TDi, 12,000 hydraulic winch & hidden winch mount, MTRs, TyreDog, Traxide 2 x aux battery system, fixed air compressor, Dolium roof rack, MitchHitch.

I only got 1km from the 19" ones on my vehicle before they were swapped for Pirelli ATRs. I figured I would soon be financially in front, let alone hopefully avoiding the inconvenience of destroying tyres in the bush.

Don't feel so bad getting about 5k from mine. Had sidewall damage from the first real off-road trip, the drive day the garage organised.
Shame can't send them the invoice - $370 today for a new 18" Wrangler. Didn't fancy a blow out on the way to Fraser
Next time round, do I replace the damaged tyre again or just go for the Pirelli ATR in the same size?? D4 Zermatt Silver TDV6: Premium Nav, Front Park, Bi-xenon, Hi-Ice, 7 Seat, dark as legal window tint. MAXTRAX, small shovel, snatch and shackles. ARB Portable Compressor, Bushranger X-Jack. Lovely new set of Cooper AT3's ready for action…Opposite Lock Colour Coded Bar, Runva 11XP Winch, ARB Awning, Safari Snorkel, Traxide Dual Battery System, Rhino Platform Rack & Accessories

Not going to offer advice on tyre choice.. each to their own. personally I have a set of 19" MTR's and a set of 19" Goodyear All Weather. Am happy with the wear but get a wheel alignment each year. The point I wish to make is that at time of purchase, I bought a $45 insurance policy from Beaurepaires against punctures and blowouts for 4 years. They repair or replace even if off road.
Nice piece of mind no matter what tyre you choose. What's the point.... it all comes out in the wash anyway!

Interesting !!
In 16 years of ownership of a tojo 75 troupie, it happenned that most of my 4 wheel tyre changes were done by them, I was never offered any insurance..... mind you I generally only ever got punctures after 40K on a tyre.
one puncture in 2 years on a jimny (which was my fault).
1 puncture and one blowout on the D3 just under 20K (and both within 10km of each other).
Current road tyres, virtually no wear in the 15K on the vehicle, but still looking for an extra 17" rim just in case.
(in this post K = 1000km)
Now was that $45 per tyre or $45 for the vehicle ?

$45 for all 4 wheels. It is a bit cheaper for passenger vehicles instead of 4WD's and I think you must buy the policy at time you purchase new tyres.
I'll let you know if I have to test the policy.. What's the point.... it all comes out in the wash anyway!
