i got an MOT guarantee when i bought mine - covers bits that are wrong to the value of £750.
As for Valet.. i wouldnt trust them after the last valet they did - outside was excellent, inside was pretty dusty. 07 Disco 3 HSE ... JB with EB

And just to add ... the 'bit of paint' thats needed is actually a piece of trim and not paint it transpires today. The salesman at stratstone milton keynes said it would be touched up ... hmm .. obvioulsy hasnt a bloody clue that its actually trim and not paint.
So i have absolutely no idea where the comment of 'the paint is just being finiahed' yesterday came from.
Also makes me wonder what the hell they have painted on my car! 07 Disco 3 HSE ... JB with EB

So ... went to get the car today ... and turned the engine on to drive away happy that the other bits had all been done.
As i turn the engine on .. the engine warning light doesn't turn off! Ran back inside to tell them (and start ranting) and they took the car into the workshop and cleared the fault.
So drove home a bit grumpy .. and stopped for a coffee.
Got back in the car and the light was on again ... got annoyed and drove home.
Land Rover assistance was sent out and apparently the EG (something or other!) valve has gone! So car is now being taken to the local dealer - even the LR Assistance guy said the service at stratstone milton keynes was appalling we had received and is hoping he can rebuild our confidence in the brand - of which at the mo i have very little.
So tomorrow get another courtesy car ... and another few days without ours.
In short.. Stratstone are ... uttter . I wouldnt recommend them to anyone and pity anyone dealing with them. 07 Disco 3 HSE ... JB with EB

I would never consider letting them loose on my vehicle again TBH, and certainly never buy from them again. Although I have not experienced them myself, have you considered Beadles of Sidcup? I thought they were proclaimed as AOK on here. Good Luck!

Very funny you say that!!
Went to see a car they had there and the sales guy was really good - sadly car was the wrong colour combo (cream leathers and 18 month old little boys do not mix!)
But.. ours is being taken there tomorrow instead and we have been told we will be dealing with them from now on and not stratstone milton keynes. Saves me a 200 mile round trip on a weekly basis!
As for using stratstone ... sadly had no choice but to use them as they had the car we wanted. 07 Disco 3 HSE ... JB with EB

Well hopefully Beadles should be able to change an EGR valve for you successfully,(if that's what's required).

$trat$tone service (sometimes shonky work - never adequately compensated, often say things need £££ when they don't, even once damaged my car) have resulted in me ditching LR for a Mercedes (hopefully Inchcape service is better).

You think Inchcape are going to be any better? They will if you find the right bloke and by God you'll need him if my ML was anything to go by. All the reliability of a chocolate fireguard.
Experience past has taught me much about the motor trade and the main thing is that car salesmen are mostly nothing better than market traders in cheap suits.
FWIW I have used Stratstones for the last 5 years, before that it was PJ Evans and before that a Reg Vardy dealership. The common link is the one bloke I deal with and I have never had issues with him.
Also worth knowing is exactly how SS became the largest retail dealer in europe, by ACQUISITION. The underlying company is Pendragon and they bought up companies including Reg Vardy (who had got to the size they were by acquisition also) and the original (much smaller) SS group. Along with this comes the staff, some OK, some not. Yes they have a good internal training programme but with anything like this, some people are just set in their ways.
People are what they are and SS have only been at this for about 3 years so not everyone is trained in the SS way yet. We used to have the same problems at work with TUPE transfers - the contract is no issue but the crap staff are a bloody big issue. Since it is people and not companies or brands who actually make up the business you can begin to understand the issues SS as a group are facing. They actually do have some very good staff but they also have quite a few who really need to be euthanised.
Do yourself a favour and find a decent bloke who you can get on with, do business with and most importantly, TRUST. Then stick with him. Yes there will still be screw-ups from time to time - he has to rely on staff in the background, some of whom are the cream of the carp, but stick with him and build a relationship. It really does pay dividends.
My chap has been selling heavy metal (LR, Jag etc) all his life and he is now the DP at a Jag outlet. The franchise itself matters not - SS dealers have access to ALL group stock. He got me my D3 V8 which came down from SS Dundee. He also takes my car to SS LR for servicing and I get his demo (whatever that happens to be) for the day. Last time was a XK8 but has been an old volvo on occassions - again, matters not. 4 wheels and a seat.
Small independent dealers will build a relationship with you since they want (need) repeat business. Trouble is they don't have the choice of stock. SS, as the largest retailer in europe are the other way round. YOU need to build the relationship and from this you will enjoy a massive choice every time.
I'm not about to advertise names in open forum but quite happy to give the out via PM. If you want a bloke who you can deal with, who won't pi55 you around and who is time served from the days of BL through Rover through Ford and now JLR PM me and I will respond with his contact details.
RCUK - you say you pity anyone dealing with SS - nobody deals with companies, people deal with other people. You just managed to happen across a complete w4nker. Do yourself a favour. Complain to SS head office with accurate and unemotional, factual details of your experience. This is the only way they get to know about customer dissatisfaction and the only way they can fix things is if they know about them. If nobody ever complains they think all is well.
BTW, no I don't work for SS and no, I'm not on commission. And yes, I would ditch them in a flash if my mate goes to another company.

mzplcg,
Nice write up, however My local Stratstone dealer has been SS for at least 6 years not 3 and they are still carp !
I,ve bought X2 DEFENDERS for work = 110 XS with Snorkel, roof rack, chk plate, winch, A bar, spots from !
Yep SS and the service i have recieved from them is absolutely diabolical.
I travelled all the way to Exeter to purchase my D3 and recieved EXCELLENT service
In the past i have only used RIPON LR and LAKELAND.
I,ve had DEFENDERS for a long time, my last 2008 XS 90 was an absolute joke ! The dealer no matter how good cannot stop faults from the manufacturing process.
RCUK,
I have to hand it to you, u must have the patience of a saint !
