Got fuel heater timer working

Long story so bear with me

Ok I could not get the fuel heat timer to work like everyone else Mad then today I went out to test it again so , SET PRE HEAT TIME TO COME UP , KEYS OUT , CAR GOES TO SLEEP, OK , pre heat does not come on at set time Mad “OK”. Then I wonder Idea if I set the time on the radio from 24 to 12 hours will it work Question so I did and guess what Wink the pre heat came on at the set time and the red light on the dash came on to Very Happy which its not done before and there was no radio on the car was total a sleep Very Happy so it does work if you have the clock set in 12 hours has anyone else try this or is it just me Question

Just set mine for 16:15. I'll go and take a look later and see if it's come on (Radio set to 12 hours format, and not on).

Worth a try.

I was parked up at Hartshead Moor services yesterday afternoon. I had a fair bit of paperwork to do, so sat in the car to complete it.

It was chilly and rather than leaving the engine running, I set the timer for 15 mins hence and carried on listening to the radio. Sure enough the webasto comes on, but after 30 minutes you have to turn it off! It gets so damn hot 8)

I don't bother trying to set the thing to come on in morning anymore, Like Simon has said previously, the car warms up fast anyway. For sitting in service stations and not having to run the engine for long periods at idle though, its invaluable.

only 05 build S and SE have the Settings Menu... was deleted on the 06 build I think... could be wrong though.

The settings were only available on the 2005 model S, SE & HSE, when the 2006 models came out they were no longer there. Also I believe that if a 2005 model car has the new wds 13 software downloaded to it these setting will be removed.

I forgot to say, I also had the fan seed setting on manual and had the air coming from the dash vents, was not set on auto.

Mine are there still too even after latest instrument software update... I have no 'i' symbol in my message centre though as others have reported. So am slightly confused as to why.

Did you try it on Auto and it didn't work, or is it just that you have not tried it yet?

Also, were you sitting in the car waiting, or was the car locked-up and fast asleep?

Edit: My timer is also still there after a full software update. The 'i' only comes up if you have a software clash between the instrument software and the suspension. I think there is a tech note about it.

The "i" should only appear if there is a message. If it is there all the time, then you need another software patch on the suspension - TFC posted a note on that earlier.

If you don't get the "i" when there is a message, then you don't have the latest software update.......and if you have Version 13 Patch 1 or higher, the heater settings will be removed......so sounds to me like you don't have the latest version.

Which probably means that the dealer serviced the car, but didn't update the info centre software.

Software patches are not part of the service procedure, and not all dealers automatically update the software, unless you ask them too......

I have tried it on auto and it did not work without the radio on.

I was in the car (not locked) but the radio was total off (no clock on the screen)
