http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/environme...hange.html

Can I suggest we do our bit for the environment and all post a turd to Mr Milliband, rather than driving there to sh it on his face in person?

So you don't feel to far removed from a D3 and MTR's, there are a selection of Goodyear boots here Mr. Green

The Prime Minister is due to set out the country's position on the forthcoming UN climate change negotiations in Copenhagen in December. He will commit the UK to ambitious plans to cut global greenhouse gases including an agreement that the emissions of developed nations should peak by 2015.

Take it he and his entourage won't be walking to Copenhagen then, this lot that pronounce on climate change seem to produce more CO2 than everybody else Mad

Looks like more student advice that hasn't been thought through (sorry students). If millions of people start walking then their food and water consumption will increase along with the extra calorie burn. Increased food consumption will lead to increase demand for foreign food supplies and the supply chain used to transport that food will need to increase accordingly, resulting in more flights, more lorries and more trips to the supermarket. In addition waste packaging and plastic bottle waste will increase having an effect on land-fill, plastic in the sea, more waste in bins needing to be collected and probably a whole host of indirect detrimental affects on the environment that I just can't think of at the moment. However the bill for treating obesity on the NHS might decrease slightly.

So where is the CO2 saving exactly, where are the figures to show that a decrease will ensue ? How are we saving the planet by taking this measure. Incidentally I would like to walk to work, if I had all day!

Governments, doh !
