On the roof of mine there is an almost flush black pad which looks like the blanking plate for something, and then today i see another Disco with quite a substantial lump up there. Are there different antennas around?

yes & no... the 'wart' is a PTI antenna, the GPS antenna where fitted is in the upper tailgate 'seeing' through the high level brake light assy.

The lump is the integrated phone antenna.
