David,
That part had me stumped for about an hour when I fitted the fridge to my D4 but it's very easy when you finally work it out.
You don't remove the bit of plastic, you remove the entire top of the centre console from the cubby box to the front dash. It lifts off complete with gear selector and EBP switch.
1: remove the cup holders in front of the cubby box - they just lift out.
2: Under the cup holders is a plate that says something like "water separator" (anyone know what it's for and why it says that?) - remove the two screws that hold it in place and remove the plate.
3: take a firm grip on either side of the top section of the centre console. Grip it near the cubby box and lift it straight up - it's just held down by clips. The whole section will lift. The wiring to the gear selector and EPB switch is long enough that you don't need to disconnect them and you don't really need to remove the front section where it joins the dash it will just lift from the back.
Hope that made sense - it is very easy if you're doing it for the second time but very scary the first time

OK
Finally got it out.
It pulls out vertically but is held by to metal spring clips. Needed a very strong pull.

I did that first when fitting mine but still needed to take the rest if the console top off because the frame that the panel clips in to was still in the way of fitting the fridge. Taking the top of the console was much easier than getting the plastic panel out.

Jon
yes I think you are correct. You could just lift the whole middle section up in one and leave the vertical bit of plastic in place.
Also makes it much easier to get to the Torx screws

Brilliant, and I mean BRILLIANT service from TLO (AKA Nick@Yeovil). Paid for fridge yesterday at 3pm and got it today at 3.15pm!! Cannot get better than that!!
No Instructions for fitting however, so can anyone tell me please, which instructions should I go by on this forum? JonM's on 02August or BBDisco3's on 2nd May?
I have an HSE with the rotary knob!!

Just spoken to my LR dealer and they said that the cubby fridge couldn't be ordered for my D4 (MY14) as a part, so basically if it wasn't factory fitted, you're stuffed.
If anyone know's different and can supply, I'd be happy to take one.
