Hi all.
Want to install a GVIF or similar to TDV6 hse.
Seems the ROI is popular and includes the MOST connectivity.
I want it for
Better navigation.
Off road mapping apps.
Phone connectivity.
Reverse / all round cameras.
Maybe video playing at some stage.
I'm in Australia which shouldn't matter for nav any more?
So what you got?
What you recommend?
Pics and links welcomed.
That's in advance.
Edit,
Do these units utilise touch screen functionality?

You don’t say what spec your D3 is, it will help with replies if you fill your vehicle details in. GVIF is connected to the original LCD display assuming you have a model with it.
GVIF will not improve SatNav or phone. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

He says he’s got a HSE
To OP, take a look at http://media.disco3.co.uk/gallery/albums/u...lation.pdf. Not sure if a newer version exists. It likely answers many of your questions.
GVIFs themselves seem to be pretty mythical devices. I think they come up for sale, used, here every now and then but don’t have the faintest idea where one might find a new one.
(And yes, please fill in your profile)

I’m not sure it’s as good
as the op thinks
I just allows 3 video input plus reverse cam to be displayed on front screen.
From what the op wants you may want something different
Expensive one

Yep sorry he has, but not filled his profile in
The one thing I really miss on the D4 is the forward facing camera I fitted on my D3 through the GIVF. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Agreed, it’s an input switcher and perhaps a format converter.

Any particular reason why it wouldn’t? I buy stuff from the U.K. and somehow Royal Mail is able to hand it off to our post office

My experience of buying from the Far East on Ebay has not been great.
Several items have not turned up and his feedback isn't brilliant
I would be weary of sending £200 in the hope that an item may turn up, in fact I would personally steer clear.

Thanks team.
Will fill out profile properly sorry.
It's a hse but didn't come with the screen.
Just the amp and speakers.
Retro fitted the dvd and screen.
Do the gvifs have their own android interface then or are they simply adding a port to your screen so you can use another box?

You’d need a box after the GVIF for those kind of features. The GVIF itself is just a media converter. If you want android - particularly for those features - I’d go with a real tablet for navigation (and forget the GVIF). The D3 satnav doesn’t come even close to Waze, google maps or Apple Maps....

Think that is why I ma getting confused.
They just show the boxes but not what the boxes do on screen?
I thought these boxes were essentially tablets without screens.

Not seen them in here interesting.
But as you don’t have a D3 display you may want to go another route.
