Handbrake tightening more after applied when key removed!

So handbrake issues are back. So noticed a month or so ago, handbrake applies as normal with switch when parking up. Switch off engine and remove the key the handbrake motor operates again tightening the handbrake further. This eventially led to a slight chirp / squeal from epb module under the stress. Not the extra long gear grinding noise we get when not adjusted properly. Got around this by not applying the epb when parking and letting it do its thing when key removed. No problems for a month or so.
Wife drives the car and applies epb at every junction. This is fine provided the key is not removed. She forgets herself a few times and sure enough it jams up in our driveway. Stripped brakes down and epb, the gears inside the epb toasted so got replacements off the web. When inspecting shoes the adjusting wedges fell out of the brake shoes. These all previouslty set up according to bodsy brake bible. Swapped these over for new apec brand. All set up again (as per brake bible instructions) and working on the stands. Dropped car on wheels to do the bedding in procedure. On 2nd /3rd slow down sequence the epb screaming started once again. Aborted that & pulled fuse. Is there a reason why the handbrake retightens itself after being applied? Even does this on the axle stands! No movement on any wheels. A pressure sensor for the epb module has just been fitted now from known working epb, and about to do another bed in sequence to see if that sorts it. The handbrake retightened itself on the axle stands again. Its as if it doesnt know its tight enough when the key is removed. The handbrake cables were replaced around 18months ago aswell.

Well back to drawing board, the bedding in procedure is jamming up the epb on the 2nd attempt to stop. Exited out of it in the mean time. Handbrake is not making a noise now tho when pressing the button or removing the key. Still tightening itself when key is removed.

Don’t bother bedding in.

If you have gap iid you can stop it doing it on key out.

Very odd though
