I have a Nextbase 622GW dashcam that supposedly detects if the battery voltage drops below a certain level and stops drawing energy.
With this in mind I am thinking of going for the permanent live feed to utilise the parking mode capability.
Has anyone else gone this route and do you have experience of whether the switching off at reduced voltage actually works?
If going for a perm live what fuse would you recommend piggy backing?

My new blackvue has the built in voltage monitoring and yes it does work.
I set the level at 12.5v just to be safe. Not sure how much lower I would want to go but happy to hear if others have gone lower?
If the battery is topped up then this lasts a couple of days. Reduced if it hasn't been used for a while.

Thanks for the prompt reply Nick.
Probably a daft question this, does the second start / stop battery come into play anywhere for a perm feed? If possible would that be a better option rather than the main battery that needs power to crank on starting.
I got this info from Nextbase:
The power requirements for a Dash Cam is 5v/2 amps. The power consumption is approximately 0.6 amps during normal use. During Parking Mode the consumption is approximately 0.2-0.3 amps.
So I shall wait for someone smarter than me to come along and comment how long that can run for before it is detrimental to the battery.

I don't think the SS battery can be brought into this without additional wiring through to the cabin but stand to be corrected. Not sure I would want to either.
The current drawn when in parking mode is quite low as it's just monitoring movement but it will then increase when it needs to record and then drop again. This frequency will vary depending on whether you live on a busy street etc.
It will depend on the health of the battery and the voltage cut off level as to how long it will monitor for before shutting down completely.
