HDC fault, not finding the solution. Please help.

Dear fellow sufferers,

After replacing / troubleshooting I still have an annoying issue.

What have we already done;
Replaced air bellows. Leaks resolved. Compressor replaced.Tank repaired, part of pipes replaced. Air suspension perfect.
Replaced the hdc module in the console. Had 'led circuit' issues. Now everything works.
Replaced crankshaft seal. Mega leak.
Replaced cooling water level sensor.
Replaced brake light switch.
Lights checked all around. (Recent MOT)
Battery checked. Charging circuit checked. Everything fine.
Replaced oil, filter and pan of the zf-auto transmission, major change in shifting behavior.
4 new tires.
Grease cover replaced front left drive shaft and abs gear cleaned.
Replace the fuel filter.

This is a 2007 disco 3 2.7tdv6. Just under 650,000 km.
Engine runs great, passes soot inspection without any problems. Always starts, rain or shine. Everything is almost stable, including the annoying error.

What is happening; if I drive quietly and the engine gets up to temperature (pointer exactly halfway) I get HDC error, limited gears available.
If I kick the car a bit more on its tail, the error stays away much longer or doesn't show at all. If I had the chance to always drive like crazy it would be trouble free. However, Mr. Police officer does not like that and the fuel consumption is also unpleasant. I have also seen many angry road users. When the error occurs, I put the gearbox in neutral, restart the engine which runs almost immediately and I can drive a few kms without issues. If I do not do this immediately after the error occurs, the air suspension will lower the car and the transmission remains in limpmode
Anything but pleasant of course.

The transmission was recently rinsed and provided with a new filter and oil, which eliminates the error for longer, switches better, but the error continues to occur.
Got the rsw solutions software.

Help me, this issue is maddening. It's a nice car, but it literally drives you crazy.

Hoping for the answer.
Thanks.

The integrated transfer case ECU is very sensible to water ingress due to the place it is situated, in your car, behind de battery Driver side...

Seen A few with a blown chip due to moisture/water...

It is below the windscreen, faulty bonnet rubber and it will catch water...

If so.... you can buy a Brand new Unviversal Bosch ECU bosch number 1 137 328 137 Reflash it with a IID and there you go...
 Best regards

Thanks for the tip. I removed both ecu's and cleaned all connectors. No proof of water leaking into the ecu.

Both ecu's look brand new. The case its situated in is/was clean of moisture and no signs of huge amount of water

Would that issue with a blown chip only occur when its a specific temperature and why would putting you foot down eliminate the error? Just curious...

Yes it did drive..
“Same “ errors as you.....

Never tried the foot down solution although Wink

Replacing chip:
Makes no sence..... new ecu is rather cheap if bought as I wrote...

Hi,

Removed and opened transmission ecu. Looks to be in perfect condition. No water damage, no burnt smell, no exploded components.

Any thoughts?
