HDC fault after replacing upper/lower wishbones |
|
Just took my LR3 out from my garage after replacing all front wishbones, just a few meters down the road I got HDC fault, and suspension lowered. Is it correct that I need to do a steering angle calibration ?
Will go for a 4wheel alignment during the week.
Do I first need to do a wheel alignment, and after that do I calibration of the steering angle?
Is it possible to calibrate with a hawkeye? No LR deler where I live up in the swedish bush.
Appreciate some good advice.

Do the wheel alignment then recalibrate the SAS.
What the recalibration does is tell the car where the straight ahead position is which has changed because you've replaced the arms. Mods:

Thanks Narpy!
I was a bit quick there sqreaming for help. This is what I did today;
- Connected my Hawkeye , went to ABS live data and adjusted the steering wheel to 0 deg. Then tied up the wheel with two slings to each door to keep it in zero position. Visually I could see both wheels pointing slightly to the left. Loosened the front bolts on the lower wishbone and adjusted until I visually could get a straight line from the front to the rear wheel. Tighted up, reset the alarms, and went for a test run on snowy winter roads. No more errors.
When at the wheel alignment, I will do the same, put the steering wheels at zero and get the technician to set the angles when the steering wheel is aligned. Hopefully that will work.

How's your steering wheel, is it correctly centered + level?
The SAS being out can take a while to show itself but usually occurs on straight roads and quite often at speed but can occur almost immediately after pulling away if it's a good way out. It's symptoms are HDC errors, loss of special programs and lowering suspension. Mods:

My steering wheel is slightly offset, not much. What I cannot understand is why I havent got the alarm before. 3 years ago, a local garage replaced both inner and outer steering linkage rods, and my wheel got a lot offset to 11 o'clock, but I did not get alarms from then till now.
HAve a time for 4W alignment tomorrow, hopefully everything will be ok. [/img]
