Headlight bulb confusion?
Can anyone advise me which replacement bulb I need. Headlight photos below, the blue ring is the bulb thats failed.

You need a D3S xenon light. These are also sometimes called HID.
I myself am partial to Osram as a brand but there are many others. I would change both sides rather than only one side.

Amazon are quite good price wise for the Orsam Night Breaker ones, about £120-140 for a pair.

Those don't normally fail per se, they usually lose their brightness but don't usually fail.
Now for the bad news, the replacement will be considerably brighter than the other side and very probably, a different colour, which is why you should replace them in pairs. Mods:

Have a look on hids4u. I got a pair of D2S for my D3 from them on their recommendation and they were a million times better than the rubbish Philips ones that were in there. They were about £65 for the pair 2006 TdV6 HSE.

The bulb? or the Ballast (the ECU attached on the bottom of the headlamp) [13C170 on the pic below]

I've ordered some cheap bulbs, will see if that fixes it - if not I'll look at the ECU
