Headlight question

OK, I did a search on this and all I got was information on adaptive Xenon headlamps. Anyway, this morning I had to replace a sidelight bulb and whilst I was doing this I noticed an extra bulb holder for the same type of 5 watt bulb. It is wired up but has no bulb fitted and it seems to go into the orange section which is ringed in red on the picture below. (shamelessly borrowed from another member - thanks)

Any ideas what it's for please? Should mention this was the nearside light unit - I've not checked the offside yet.

Thanks

Dom

Thanks chaps. Just tested it with a meter and no voltage under any conditions I can find. Tried ign on, engine running, indicator on, sidelights on. Nowt. No point in fitting a bulb then Mr. Green

Looking at the Faultmate, there is an option to enable the Side Markers in the CCF......I guess that's why the CJB doesn't put any power out to them.
